Jacquez McCall, 31, of Paterson, Sean Miller, 30, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and Abdoul Toure, 25, of New York City, were all charged with burglary, theft of movable property, conspiracy to commit burglary, credit card theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal attempt, according to public safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin.
The arrests come as part of a coordinated operation with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
On January 19th, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Hoboken police officers responded to reports of someone trying to open a U.S. Postal Service mailbox near the intersection of Seventh Street and Willow Avenue.
When officers arrived, they saw Toure leaving the area and getting into a vehicle, which was subsequently pulled over. All three men were inside.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered nine stolen credit cards in a pocket on the front passenger side door, as well as two bags filled with envelopes and documents containing various names and addresses.
A stack of checks for various amounts was also found in the glove compartment.
As a result, McCall, Miller, and Toure were arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where they were charged with the aforementioned charges.
While he was being transported, Miller kicked one of the officers and was additionally charged with aggravated assault.
Additionally, it was discovered he had active warrants out of Elmwood Park and Kenilworth. McCall and Toure were released with summonses and court dates, while Miller was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correction Facility.
During the on-scene investigation, officers recovered a master key that had been stolen from a postal worker in Hoboken on December 19th, 2024.
That robbery remains under investigation by the Hoboken PD, in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service Inspectors.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det. Samuel Flores at Floress@hobokenpdnj.gov.
Great job US Postal Inspectors! Like you did in helping to catch the Edison Eight back in 2017 for spreading racist fliers in Edison and likely Hoboken, your efforts are appreciated. But sadly Ravi got away with it because his best friend, Gurbir Grewal, (who, incidentally, was also friends with Bobby Gold Bars, but eventually testified against him to save himself) was the NJ Attorney General so he let it slide.
Oh well!
It’s not like we got stuck with an unethical virtue signaling mayor for 8 years or anything…
Thank you matt majer. it is always so good to get ur insight
We had checks “fished” from that same location several years ago- the perp was from upstate NY- he scrubbed & cashed one of our checks for $$$. He got caught because he used his actual name to cash the forged check to himself. Meanwhile, we were unaware abt bills going unpaid for weeks, plus the fraudulent check which wreaked havoc for us. Neighbors also had mail go “missing.” For the sake of victims, HPD should contact every victim ASAP. Note that later, Hoboken mailboxes were “proofed” to prevent fishing out letters.
How exactly was this key removed from a postal worker? Were they robbed/mugged, pickpocketed or what? Was there collusion?
