The project team will present two draft design concepts for the park that were developed based on community feedback gathered on the initial concept designs presented at the April public meeting.

The community input received during the upcoming meeting and survey will then be used to create a final concept design for the City’s fourth resiliency park.

  1. The waterfront survey was much too long and omitted several very important considerations, including, but not limited to:

    1) Total cost, including ongoing maintenance, per concept.
    2) Timeline to completion and whether any of the 3 may be started before NYW leaves the site.
    3) How the city plans to manage the property with regard to our homeless population
    4) How will each of these sites impact our rodent issue?

While I recognize the city will rightly note that without some sense for the magnitude and complexity of the project costs will be difficult to determine. The flip side is that the public may “like” one site more than another if we are told the cost and tax impact would be reduced by half.

Without any of this context these surveys carry serous flaws and should be evaluated accordingly.
