“Thanks to the continued support from Hudson County leadership, including Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, Hudson County Chairman-Commissioner Anthony Romano and all of the County Commissioners, Hudson County Improvement Authority CEO Norman Guerra, and Health and Human Services Director Darice Toon, the Hoboken Community Center can further its mission of providing essential services and spaces to support the well-being of our community,” HCC Board of Directors Secretary Toni Tomarazzo said in a statement.

“Our pantry has been a lifeline for the community since 2019, providing basic necessities to our neighbors in need, and we look forward to creating a space that will continue to serve our clients with dignity.”

The HCC Pantry is a community resource for supplemental food, hygiene, and pet supplies for residents in Hoboken and surrounding communities experiencing food insecurity or other hardships and the county commissioners approved the grant on Thursday.

In January 2023, the HCC purchased the property at 122 Adams Street for the new pantry. The new space will feature a customer choice program allowing clients to select the food and products they need for their home.

There will be scheduled appointment times for services during regular business hours.

“During my campaign, I made it a goal to address the issue of food insecurity in Hudson County, and this funding will help to combat hunger and poverty in our community,” added Hudson County Executive Craig Guy.

“I’m proud that we were able to help the Hoboken Community Center continue to provide essentials like food and other services to our most vulnerable residents.”

The pantry is a member agency of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and serves more than 3,500 households with supplemental food, hygiene, and pet supplies.

Each month, the organization hands out an average of 950 bags of groceries and 300 hygiene bags.

“I am truly thankful to Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and the Hudson County commissioners for listening about the needs of the Hoboken food pantry and supporting an effort to address food insecurity in Hoboken and Hudson County,” noted 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, a regular volunteer at the pantry, said in her own statement.
