The City of Jersey City is mourning the loss of North District Police Lt. Marina Ugolini, a nearly 19-year veteran of the force who died yesterday, with few details of her passing currently publicly available.

“Rest in Peace Lt. Marina Ugolini 🙏 I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her close friends and family, and to her colleagues within the JCPD during these incredibly difficult times. Thank you for your service to our city and the community,” Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh wrote on Facebook.
“Rest in peace Jersey City Police lieutenant Marina you will be missed, Thank you for your service,” Ward F Councilman Frank “Educational” Gilmore posted on X.
Ugolini joined the Jersey City Police Department in September 2005, public records show, and was promoted to lieutenant about six years ago. Additional information on her passing and/or funeral arrangements were not immediately available.
“For Lt. Marina Ugolini, we pray for her repose, that she may be granted rest, that she & her family know help & comfort of Almighty God, that Marina & her family be sheltered & surrounded in love, that her family may have strength to meet the days to come. Requiescat in Pace,” posted former Gov. Jim McGreevey, a declared candidate for mayor.
