“I first met Marla in 2019 when we both joined the Executive Committee of the Hoboken Democratic Committee. From day one I found Marla to be brilliant, honest, and inquisitive. Three characteristics which will serve her well as the 2nd Ward representative on the City Council,” Quintero said in a statement.

” … If there is anything to take away from my words, it is this: Marla is smart and meticulous. As the 2nd Ward Councilperson, nothing will get by Marla, she won’t make excuses about being duped or being unaware. It’s not who she is. Marla holds herself accountable, and as such, she will never let the 2nd Ward down. I support Marla Decker for Hoboken City Council, and I hope you will too.”

He added that Decker has lived in the Mile Square City for over 20 years, serving as the president of the Hudson Tea Condo Association during the COVID-19 pandemic (managing multi-million dollar budgets) and working as a litigator before joining a private equity fund.

Decker also has the support of Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who ran with Quintero in 2021, as part of an effort to win three seats (Wards 1, 2, and 6) and getting 5th Ward Councilman Phil Cohen re-elected.

2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher is seeking a third term, and while Pat Waiters is also on the ballot, she is no longer seeking votes in the council race and is focused on getting elected to the board of education.

The non-partisan Hoboken City Council races are on November 7th.

  1. No one knows or cares who Joe or Marla are. Sadly, Joe is on the Council yet no one knows why or what he stands for as an at-large CM.
2nd Ward CM Fisher, on the other hand, has an established record and reputation as THE 2nd ward advocate.
