“Seals worked closely with the legal and investigative staff at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office as he was assigned first to the JCPD Street Crimes Unit and then the Cease Fire Unit,” the HCPO said in a statement this afternoon.

“He was respected and beloved by all he worked with at the Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutor Suarez wanted to honor him with this special tribute of dedicating the Media Room as the Detective Joseph Seals Media Room to ensure a lasting memory of Joe is always
part of our office.”

The event will take place at the HCPO’s office in Jersey City, located at 595 Newark Ave., at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Seals was one of four innocent lives claimed during an hour-long shootout in Greenville on December 10th, 2019, where the two assailants ultimately committed suicide.

The incident was deemed an act of domestic terror, since the shooters were proven to have anti-Semitic, as well as anti-law enforcement, beliefs.

Thousands of officers from across the region paid their respects at Seals’ funeral one week later, with around 7,900 people contributing $718,696 for his family through a GoFundMe page.
