UPDATED: Authorities investigating incident where Jersey City Heights man, 47, found dead in his home

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating an incident where a 47-year-old Jersey City Heights man was found dead in his apartment.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and JCPD are investigating a suspicious death of a 47-year-old man who was found deceased in his apartment Saturday morning on Griffith Street between Summit and Central Avenues in Jersey City. More info to follow,” the HCPO tweeted.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez provided more details at 5:12 p.m.

Yesterday just before 6 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to an unresponsive male in his apartment on Griffith Street between Summit and Central Avenues.

Responding officers found a lifeless 47-year-old man who was pronounced dead at 6:01 a.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case and no arrests have been made at this time.

This is the second “suspicious death” being investigated in Jersey City in the past two weeks, with a 16-year-old being arrested on Thursday for the murder of well-known photographer Benjamin Stone, 40, who was found dead in his apartment on April 27th.
