The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the public’s help to locate a Jersey City man wanted for the murder of Tyrone Haskins, who was stabbed to death early on New Year’s Day.

Darius Evans, 45, of Jersey City, has been charged in relation to the death of Haskins, 39, who was found with stab wounds to his torso on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City just before 3 a.m. on January 1st, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Evans is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Friday, January 1, 2021, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department
received a report of a possible stabbing victim found in the area of 333 Ocean Ave. Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a male with an apparent stab wound to his torso.

The victim, later identified as Haskins, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Anyone who sees Evans should not approach him and should instead immediately contact police.
