HCPO Homicide Unit & Jersey City PD investigating fatal shooting of boy, 16

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy who was killed last night, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Shortly after 5:10 p.m. yesterday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of an injured male inside an apartment on Rose Avenue, Mello said in a statement.

Responding officers located a teenage boy – later identified as Al-Jahmir Curry, 16, of Pennsylvania – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was pronounced deceased just before 5:30 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The circumstances regarding the shooting are actively being investigated by the HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD and no arrests have been made at this time.
