UPDATED: HCPO Homicide Unit investigating ‘suspicious death’ of a man found in Jersey City

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is investigating the “suspicious death” of a man at an address at Van Nostrand Avenue in Jersey City.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is responding to 88 Van Nostrand Avenue in Jersey City to investigate the suspicious death of a man. More information to follow,” the law enforcement agency tweeted minutes ago.

This is the second death local law enforcement is investigating in Jersey City in the past five days, with a 24-year-old man found dead in Lincoln Park on Friday. The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office determined that death was not suspicious.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information at 1:39 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call from an individual who located the man inside of a home at 88 Van Nostrand Ave., Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers found the lifeless body of a 57-year-old man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 4:39 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department requested that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit assist in the investigation. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
