The event included a series of talks and panel discussions designed to inform business administrators, fleet and transportation directors, contractors, and other county and school stakeholders on the emerging resources available for electrification.

“I’m really excited about the conversations that we’re having today which can lead to collaborations among governments at all levels working together to provide better public access to charging infrastructure and to electrify our fleets,” HCIA Deputy Director of Sustainability and Community Outreach Amanda Neshiewat said in a statement.

“We are committed to making it as easy and accessible as possible for municipalities to plug into this conversation and for us all to meet the charge that is being asked of us by our national Government.”

The event also included remarks from members of the NJ DEP, the Sierra Club, NJ Clean Cities, PSE&G, and police officers. Speakers detailed the new sources of funding available for those wishing to transition their fleet to electric, the logistical details of doing so.

The event also included a showcase with ten electric vehicles including buses, a garbage truck, vans, SUVs, and sedans.

“This was a perfect example of the kind of collaborative work that we all need to be doing here in Hudson County to make sure that we are on the cutting edge of sustainable transportation technology,” added HCIA CEO Norman Guerra.

“It was wonderful to see so many municipalities present, as well as such a strong showing from PSE&G. I am excited to continue working closely with all of the different leaders and stakeholders in Hudson County to continue to build a more sustainable future.”
