“Well, we’re trying to help the community blood services today: we’re having a blood drive here in Guttenberg. We were inspired to do it because I’ve had family emergencies in the past that required blood donations, especially my daughter, with a rare blood type,” Gesualdi said.

” … There’s so much bad in the world these days, as we just saw last week in Hoboken, and you just never know when you or a family member might need blood.”

Eva Jurado-Poss, a real estate paralegal that works with Gesualdi, said they hope to make this at least an annual event.

“It’s our first blood drive, but hopefully one of many yearly blood drives would like to hold,” stated Jurado-Poss.

“We hope to create a tradition here in Guttenberg and have a blood drive,” added Gesualdi.

About 15 to 20 members of the public donated to the Community Blood Services van in front of Gesualdi’s office on 6806 Bergenline Ave. yesterday. The event ran from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
