“Guarding Against Pandemics is committed to one idea: preventing the next pandemic. We are proud to support Rob Menendez for Congress because he’s demonstrated a commitment to do what’s necessary to prevent the next pandemic,” GAP Executive Director Gabriel Bankman-Fried said in a statement.

GAP is a group of scientific and political experts formed during the COVID-19 pandemic and committed to preventing the next one. They advocate for public investments to prevent the next pandemic.

“It is clear that we as a nation were unprepared for COVID-19, and that many preventable deaths occurred as a result,” added Menendez.

“In Congress, I will work with Guarding Against Pandemics and other groups to ensure that we are prepared to stop future pandemics and that our state, county, and local governments have the resources they need from the federal government.”

Menendez, a lawyer, Port Authority commissioner, and the son of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), is heavily favored in the June 7th primary due to big fundraising capabilities and support from Democratic leaders throughout the state.

He faces challengers in David Ocampo-Grajales and Ane Roseborough-Eberhard.
