A GoFundMe page has been started for late Jersey City Police Officer Morton Otundo to create a trust account for his son, an effort that has shown no problems raising funds thus far.

“Outside of uniform, Morton was an amazing friend, son, brother and above all, a loving father to his young son, Andrew. Morton treated all of us like family and we want to be there as such now, more than ever, for Andrew, who will be left without his father’s infectious smile, deep rumbling wisdom and witty personality for the rest of his life,” the page description says.
“Morton’s energy was absolutely one of a kind and we will forever miss him. All funds raised will be deposited into a trust account to help support Andrew in any future endeavors.”
After being online for less than a full day, the page has already raised $33,700 from 243 donors, with an ultimate goal of $50,000.
Otundo, the president of the 2013 police academy class, died from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident early Friday morning and the incident is being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
He is survived by his two brothers that are also members of the JCPD: Det. Chris Otundo and Officer Charles Otundo.
