Fulop says ‘Harris will be an outstanding candidate,’ vows to help get her elected

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a Democratic candidate for governor, wrote on X last night that “Kamala Harris will be an outstanding candidate” in light of President Joe Biden (D) exiting the November 5th race against former President Donald Trump (R).

“@KamalaHarris will be an outstanding candidate and of course I’ll work hard on her behalf. It’s smart the state party/delegates move quickly as we have a small window + hard work ahead of us to defeat Trump,” he said in response to a New Jersey Globe report that said the New Jersey DNC could endorse Harris as early as today.

Fulop and U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez (D-8), who are political adversaries, both vocalized support for Biden on July 10th as calls for him to get out of the race began to grow.

The Jersey City mayor stuck with the commander-in-chief in light of potential 2025 rival, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11), calling on Biden to drop out.

Menendez and Sherrill both came out for Harris yesterday, along with four of their colleagues, including U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5), a likely gubernatorial candidate, and U.S. Rep. Andy Kim (D-3), the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

Gov. Phil Murphy (D), whose circle has expressed interest in him running alongside Harris, and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, another Democrat running for governor, have also endorsed Harris for president on Sunday.
