Friends of the Loew’s director voices opposition to Fulop plan for theatre

Friends of the Loew’s director Colin Egan went on the record about proposed changes to the management of The Loew’s Jersey Theatre.

Hudson County View had the opportunity to sit down with Friends of the Loew’s director Colin Egan to discuss proposed changes to the future management of The Loew’s Jersey Theatre.

Egan spoke about the history of the relationship between the theatre and the non-profit group which manages it, and what exactly Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s proposal would mean for the future of the venue.

In addition, Egan didn’t seem to think making the Loew’s a commercial-operated venue would add more programming, or necessarily revive the Journal Square area.

He also spoke about the physical condition of the building and lack of financial support the city has provided to Friends of Loew’s, while making the case as to why Friends of Loew’s should continue as the operator.
