Feeling the Bern? Jersey City campaign for Sanders to kickoff on Saturday

Anyone local looking to get on board with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ (D-VT) presidential campaign can check out the formal kickoff for the Jersey City for Sanders campaign on Saturday.

“People may ask why vote for Bernie Sanders? Bernie Sanders because the US healthcare system is deeply broken, going to the hospital can cost someone thousands of dollars, the first thing a hospitals asks you is for you’re health insurance not whats wrong with you, the leading cause of bankruptcy in America is from medical bills,” the Jersey City for Bernie campaign said in a statement.

” … Bernie plans to protect and expand social security, while many others are trying to attack in and privatize it. Bernie has a plan to invest in affordable housing across America which is desperately needed especially in Hudson County.”

The campaign also notes that Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Lawrence Hamm, a Newark activist and former school board member challenging U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), will also be speaking at the event.

Booker dropped out of the presidential race on Monday and his since announced he will be seeking re-election in the Senate.

The kickoff will be hosted at The Factory, located at 451 Communipaw Ave., and will start at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th.
