Hoboken Housing Authority Acting Executive Director Robert DiVincent confirmed exclusively with Hudson County View that the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General has opened an investigation over the HHA’s procurement policy. The procurement policy first came under fire in a HUD review from July.Â

In a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development review conducted during the week of July 28, HUD slammed the HHA’s procurement process, saying they spent nearly $3 million in “unjustified non-competitive procurement.â€
At a special HHA meeting on August 26, former HHA Executive Director Carmelo Garcia was critical of HHA Chairwoman Dana Wefer for releasing the HUD report to the public and refuted some of the claims made in the report.Â
