City of Hoboken announces reduced ‘Summer Streets’ hours for Sinatra Drive

The City of Hoboken is announcing new “Summer Streets” hours for Sinatra Drive, citing a two-day observational analysis of the program’s usage conducted by the Transportation and Parking and Public Safety Departments.

The new hours for Summer Streets which will now be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sinatra Drive between 4th and 11th Streets. Last month, the city said the program would run until 8 p.m.

The hour adjustment follows a two-day observational analysis of the program’s usage conducted by the Transportation and Parking Department and Public Safety Department

They found higher utilization rates through the morning and early afternoon hours, with minimal vehicular traffic impacts. Summer Streets closes Sinatra Drive to vehicular traffic to provide additional open space for recreation along the waterfront.

Sinatra Drive Summer Streets will take place on the following Sundays: August 13th, August 20th, August 27th, and September 3rd.

Temporary No Parking signs will be posted along Sinatra Drive as drivers will not be permitted to drive on Sinatra Drive between Fourth Street and 11th Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Hoboken police oOfficers on site to mitigate potential traffic impacts.

‍Summer Streets is part of the city’s Vision Zero initiative to eliminate all traffic deaths and injuries in Hoboken by 2030.
