The Central Avenue Special Improvement District partnered with New Jersey Clean Communities, Hudson County Improvement Authority, and BagUpNJ to distribute reusable grocery bags before the statewide plastic bag ban went into effect Wednesday.

“This past event was a huge success with over 500 reusable bags distributed. CASID is thankful for the partnership with NJCC and HCIA to make an event like this possible,” Central Avenue SID Executive Director Alexa Lima said in a statement.
The bag giveaway took place on Tuesday, May 3rd at Angel Azul Bakery, which is located at 460 Central Ave, ahead of the New Jersey plastic bag ban that went into effect the following day.
The groups hosted another bag giveaway at the same location yesterday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.
