Branco, a former Hoboken Democratic Committee secretary, switched parties to run in this race and defeated Einstein – a GOP state committeeman – 15 to 12.

While both candidates scored 12 votes on the machines, Branco pulled out the victory by securing three vote-by-mail ballots. He was the pick of Hudson County GOP Chair Jose Arango, who was expected to face a challenge from Einstein if he had been victorious.

“Thank you Hoboken & Hudson County Republican Committee WON ALL THE COMMITTEES A CLEAN SWEEP! BRANCO & ARANGO PERFECT TOGETHER !,” Arango posted on Facebook tonight.

The Hudson County GOP has set their reorganization meeting for June 15th at The Boulevard in North Bergen.

Branco and Einstein both declined to comment late Tuesday evening.

  1. Wait, wasn’t Joe Branco a Democrat? Oh, this is like a Carmelo deal. Or was this a Ravi deal? Or a Russo deal? Yeah, it’s a dirty deal.
