Assembly members Ravi Bhalla and Katie Brennan (both D-32) are pleading to help pass the immigration protection laws vetoed by now former Gov. Phil Murphy (D) on his way out of office yesterday.

“Federal agents are conducting raids across New Jersey as we speak. We have to respond to the very real threats at hand instead of worrying about what might happen if we stand up for ourselves,” Bhalla said in a statement.
“People need protection and we can’t afford to wait. I’m ready to work with my colleagues in the Legislature to get these bills passed as soon as possible.”
The Privacy Protection Act (A-6309) would have established new data privacy protections limiting what personal information state agencies can share with federal immigration enforcement.
Additionally, legislation to codify New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive (A-6310) would have prevented local police from participating in federal immigration enforcement.
Murphy pocket vetoed both of those shortly before Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D) was sworn in, to the dismay of immigration advocates, while signing the Safe communities Act, as HCV first reported.
“States have power to keep our communities safe, but only if we use it. Vetoing these bills is a total misunderstanding of the moment we’re in. When you give up ground without a fight, it only makes the Trump administration’s job easier,” added Brennan.
“I’m going to sign onto these bills the moment they’re re-introduced, and I’m going to fight like hell to get them passed. This is the bare minimum we can do to protect people from ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).”

Why such desperation to protect criminal illegal immigrants? How do they defend themselves? 🤡 🤡
Ravinder Singh Bhalla has become even more radical left, which considering as Mayor he ordered a Palestine to be raised over Hoboken City Hall on intifada anniversary.
He is much better suited his current role – say a great deal and accomplish very little. As Mayor, he had clear deliverables and failed miserably. He will do less damage in the Assembly – i hope.
