Moises Rivera, 57, of West New York, was walking near 67th Street and Dewey Avenue on Thursday, just after midnight, when three men attacked him and knocked him to the ground during what appeared to be a robbery, officials said.

Bystanders tried to render first aid and called 911, to no avail, before he was  transported to Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m., authorities said.

A medical examiner said Rivera’s cause of death was homicide by blunt force trauma to the head.

West New York Police arrested three men late Friday:

Franklin J. Turcios, 20, of Guttenberg

Jerrison Reynoso, 25, of West New York

Munir K. Kader, 21, of Guttenberg

They were charged early Saturday with felony murder and robbery and are being held on $250,000 bail. The investigation was a joint effort between the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office’s Homicide Unit and the West New York Police Department.
