Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man near John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue this evening.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a man in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue. More to follow,” the HCPO tweeted at 9:33 p.m.
According to police radio transmissions, the man was found with gunshot wounds near the aforementioned intersection just before 8:30 p.m. and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Yesterday at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting shots fired in the area 1922 JFK Boulevard.
Responding officers found a man, later identified as Juan Rodriguez, 49, of Jersey City, with apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body.
He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:55 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
