The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue are investigating a fatal fire that occurred in Guttenberg early yesterday morning, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Just after 7 a.m. yesterday, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue was notified of a fire at 6914 Park Avenue in Guttenberg, Suarez said in a statement.
Upon arrival, first responders located fire coming from the third floor of the residential structure. During fire suppression activities, firefighters located a male victim – later identified as Marcos Santa-Zayas, 37, of Guttenberg – with serious injuries.
He was transported to the Palisades Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:20 a.m.
The cause and origin are being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and foul play is not suspected at this time, authorities said.
