The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Bayonne where a hoverboard ride was killed by a car.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a Bayonne man riding a hoverboard in Bayonne Sunday afternoon, Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

The 40-year-old victim, later identified as Matthew Anderson, was struck in the area of 40th Street and Avenue C. He was pronounced deceased at 3:27 p.m. at the Jersey City Medical Center, officials said.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
