Yesterday at approximately 11:26 p.m., two police vehicles were involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Communipaw and Mallory Avenues, city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said.

All three occupants were taken to the Jersey City Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

“The JCPD is conducting a joint investigation with the Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit as is standard policy when a city vehicle is involved. No criminality is suspected at this point,” she added.

Photos from the scene posted by RLS Media show that at least one police cruiser had flipped upside down across the street from the McDonald’s located at 891 Communipaw Ave.

They also reported that a police sergeant was one of the officers who sustained injuries in the crash, though he was able to exit the vehicle under his own power.
