Authorities investigating Bayonne crash that killed 74-year-old pedestrian

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are investigating a late Monday morning crash that killed a 74-year-old pedestrian.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of 22nd Street and Broadway, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Upon arrival, responding officers located a victim, later identified as Maryann Patey, 74, of Bayonne, with a head injury. She was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m.

The striking vehicle, a black Nissan operated by a 31-year-old Bayonne woman, remained at the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are actively investigating this case.
