“The flags of the United States and POW/MIA should be respected and held in highest of regards for the sacrifices, and blood shed to create this nation, to protect the rights of its citizens,” retired U.S. Army Sgt. Major Jennifer Long, the commander of VFW Post 1302, wrote on the group’s Facebook page.

“It’s a shameful and disrespectful when someone has stolen the flags from the flagpole located in front of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars. Post 1302 has honored those that have served and sacrificed in our community for 92 years.”

The commenters on the Facebook post were expectedly angry and irate upon hearing the news.

“If they ever find out who did it they should be publicly shamed……ASS****,” wrote Anthony Nicosia.

“What kind of morally bankrupt POS would even think of that ??? This is beyond disturbing!!,” added Michael Tague.

“It disturbs me more than I can say that someone could have taken these flags! The thought that an individual would even have thoughts like this is more then distrurbing [sic]! What is this world coming to???,” Debbie Comer exclaimed.

The social media post was written early Friday afternoon and no updates had been written as of this morning. The flag has been missing since Thursday morning and the Kearny VFW has about 250 members.
