In a letter to the editor, Hoboken 6th Ward resident Alex Garcia explains why he’s voting for Ryan Cunningham to be his next city council representative.

Dear Editor,
My name is Alex Omar Garcia. I am a proud son of Hoboken—born, raised, and still living in the 6th Ward for the past 46 years.
I was raised with strong family values, even in poverty. My parents came here from Ecuador, and like many families in Hoboken, we worked hard to build a better life. We received help from our community—free cheese, rice, and beans from the CUNA community service center, and even free dental care, though not always without pain!
I’m a proud graduate of Hoboken High School, Class of 1993—the Redwings! Today, I work as a Network Engineer for Montefiore IT Healthcare in Yonkers, New York.
I’m also a proud father of four children—one currently attending Rutgers University and three in the Hoboken Public School system, just like I was.
I’m not a politician. I’m a servant of my community—someone who understands the struggles and values of the lower- and middle-class families who make Hoboken what it is.
I know firsthand the importance of keeping taxes low, improving safety, and addressing what has been Hoboken’s biggest issue for over three decades—parking, along with the corruption that has long existed within the Hoboken Parking Utility.
I listen to every constituent in my ward. I’m not a career politician—I’m an engineer, a father, a community servant, and a voice for the people.
That’s why I proudly and wholeheartedly endorse Ryan Cunningham to represent the 6th Ward.
No one will ever replace the legacy and dedication of Jen Giattino, but I believe Ryan Cunningham is the right person to continue serving our community with integrity and commitment.
Thank you.
Alex Garcia
Hoboken 6th Ward resident

Good luck to Mr Cunningham and everyone running. But this is mostly about the author. Is he running for something?
