Prosecutor: Union City man charged with recording woman inside her home without consent

A Union City man has been charged with recording a woman insider her home without consent about four months after being charged with possession of and distribution of child sex abuse videos, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Mario Lopez Esquit, 24, is charged with one count of invasion of privacy, a third-degree crime. He was processed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility where he is currently being detained on other charges.

Lopez Esquit is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the latest charge today.

Additionally, the HCPO has also filed a motion for detention which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, May 31st.

Lopez Esquit was previously arrested on January 18th for possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the New Jersey State Police, and the Union City Police Department with the investigation.
