Tiffany Poole, 42, of Weehawken, was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and DWI within 1,000 feet of a school, according to Police Det. Sgt. Joseph Leonard.

Yesterday around 2:45 a.m., Police Officers Jayla Vega and Vincent Lombardi saw Poole drive her vehicle through Columbus Park from the 9th and Grand Streets side to the 10th and Grand Streets side, authorities said.

Afterwards, the driver traveled north on Grand Street from 11th Street, going the wrong way. At that point, the officers initiated a motor vehicle stop the arrestee.

When they spoke to Poole, they could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and see that she displayed signs of being intoxicated such as watery eyes and slurred speech. Field Sobriety tests were administered and she was determined to be too intoxicated to operate a vehicle, officials said.

She was arrested and brought to headquarters for processing and to submit to breathe samples.

For that reason, Poole was issued additional summonses for refusal to take a breath sample, refusal to submit to chemical testing, driving the wrong way down a one way and reckless driving, police said.

She was then given her summonses with a court date and released, authorities said.
