Three recent Jersey City Ward E city council candidates are backing Ward E Councilman James Solomon for mayor, emphasizing unity and a shared vision for a brighter future for the community.

Stacey Lawrence, who ran with Mussab Ali, Alex Hamilton, a part Council President Joyce Watterman’s slate, and Dan Israel, who was a part of Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) team, are all throwing their support behind Solomon today.
“It is important that we now come together to back James Solomon for mayor. James has the leadership and vision we need to tackle the challenges ahead, particularly in making our city more affordable for all residents. I am proud to endorse him,” Lawrence said in a statement.
Ali and O’Dea were quick to support Solomon for mayor after they finished in fourth and third place, respectively, in the seven-person November 4th contest.
Solomon was the top vote getter and is looking to defeat former Gov. Jim McGreevey in the non-partisan December 2nd runoff.
“It’s essential for us to unite and support a candidate who truly cares for our community. James Solomon has shown that he prioritizes the needs of the residents and recognizes the importance of affordability,” noted Israel.
“I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy for mayor and encourage everyone to join us in this movement for change. We must work together to ensure every resident can thrive in our city.”
Hamilton, a former board of education trustee who currently sits on the city’s rent leveling and stabilization board, is going against the grain in a sense, given that Watterman endorsed McGreevey in the runoff.
“We need a leader who brings people together. James has a proven track record of engaging with the community and listening to the voices of all citizens,” he began.
“I believe he is the right choice to lead us forward and create an equitable and affordable city for everyone. Together, we can ensure that all families have access to housing and a city that works for all of us.”
Solomon’s Ward E council candidate, Eleana Little, won outright earlier this month in a blowout despite being in a five-person field.
“I am deeply honored to receive the support of Stacey, Alex, and Dan. Their commitment to our community is an inspiration and together, we can build a brighter and more affordable future that reflects the values we all share. We’re going to make Jersey city a place where everyone can afford to live,” he said.
