21-year-old shot dead in 2nd Jersey City homicide in the past four days, authorities say

A 21-year-old was shot dead in Jersey City last night, marking the second homicide in the city in the past four days, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 8:20 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to a report shots fired in the area of Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City with one man being injured, Suarez said in a statement.

Upon arrival, responding officers found an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the ground in the area of 125 and 127 Wilkinson Ave., officials said.

The man, later identified as Markell Albright, 21, of Jersey City, was transported by
Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. Albright was pronounced dead at approximately 8:50 p.m., authorities said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with
assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and no arrests have been made at this time.
