“I am honored to have the support of UFCW Local 360 and its hardworking members who play a vital role in our economy. As mayor, I will prioritize policies that create well-paying union jobs, ensure safe working conditions, and expand economic opportunities for all residents,” McGreevey said in a statement.
“By partnering with UFCW Local 360, we can build a stronger, fairer city where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. We will strengthen union apprenticeships and recruit young Jersey City people to join organized labor.”
McGreevey also has labor support from the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), the New Jersey Carpenters Union, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and Jersey City Public Employees Union Local 246 President John Kilroy.
UFCW Local 360 President Sam Ferraino, Jr. said the former governor, state senator, and assemblyman “listens to and supports organized Labor, and for your willingness to help improve wage parity, provide employment and economic opportunity, and assure safe working conditions.”
“I would also like to express how much we appreciate your affirmation that ‘collective bargaining is a public good’ and that ‘all workers should have the right to collectively bargain’ for their terms and conditions of employment,” he added.
The non-partisan November 4th race has McGreevey running against Ward E Councilman James Solomon, Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2), Council President Joyce Watterman, and former Board of Education President Mussab Ali.
