While on patrol, Guttenberg Police Det. Jaber Jaber, of the Criminal Investigations Bureau, conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation, after observing the driver engage in what appeared to be a hand-to-hand transaction, consistent with a drug deal, Ramadanovic said in a statement.

During his on-scene investigation, Jaber spoke with the driver, and based on his training and experience, he believed that the driver was engaged in criminal activity.

As a result, he summoned the assistance of the Bayonne Police Department’s K-9 Unit. Upon their arrival, their narcotics K-9 conducted a “free air sniff” of the vehicle, during which he indicated to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.

Following a probable cause search of the motor vehicle, Jaber found eight clear baggies containing a white powdery substance and one larger baggie containing a white powdery substance, all believed to be cocaine.

During this motor vehicle stop, it was also found that the driver had eight total active warrants for his arrest issued by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, North Bergen Municipal Court, West New York Municipal Court, Summit Municipal Court, Middle Township Municipal Court, and the Union City Municipal Court.

At that time, Olinsser Vera, 42, of North Bergen, was arrested on the active warrants and for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine). He was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing.

Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Vera was issued his complaint summons, various summonses for traffic violations and then transferred into the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
