Man responds to getting arrested for trespassing in Secaucus with a sledgehammer

A Texas man responded to getting arrested for trespassing in Secaucus with a sledgehammer, using it on a glass door at the entrance of the building, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.

Gregory Simpson, 65, of Garland, TX, was charged for defiant trespassing due to refusing to leave the Hartz Mountain property at 500 Plaza Drive, Miller said in a statement.

On April 5th at approximately 12:06 p.m., Secaucus police responded to Park Plaza Drive and Mill Creek Drive on a report of an individual on the property refusing to leave.

Following an investigation, Simpson was arrested, issued his complaint summons, and released from police custody.

The following day, April 6th, at about 6:53 p.m., an investigation was conducted by Secaucus police regarding an incident that occurred to the property at 500 Plaza Drive where a sledgehammer was used to break one of the revolving glass doors at that location.

Simpson was again arrested, this time on charges of criminal mischief, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was arrested while walking in the parking lot at 300 Park Plaza Drive.

Simpson was issued his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Correctional facility, authorities said.
