“Jeff Justice Williams is a passionate advocate for the Heights and a dedicated leader. His commitment to empowering our neighborhoods and fostering unity aligns perfectly with our mission,” Watterman said in a statement.
“Jeff understands the unique challenges facing Ward D, and he brings the energy and integrity we need on the City Council. Together, we will continue to move Jersey City forward, ensuring prosperity and opportunity for all.”
Williams is the sixth candidates to declare he wants to be the next Heights representative in Jersey City.
Patrick Ambrossi and Democratic Socialists of America member Jake Ephros are running as independents, Elvin Dominici is part of Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) slate, Veronica Akaezuwa is on Ward E Councilman James Solomon’s team, and Catherine Healy has joined forces with former Gov. Jim McGreevey.
Incumbent Yousef Saleh is currently running for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District on Mayor Steven Fulop’s “Democrats for Change” gubernatorial ticket, though if he comes up short in the June 10th primary, he has the option to seek re-election.
“I am honored to join the Joyce For JC Team and stand as a candidate for Ward D. Our Heights community deserves a strong voice on the council-one that is rooted in loyalty, transparency, and real solutions,” stated Watterman.
“I look forward to working with Joyce Watterman to ensure every family in Ward D has the resources and representation they need to thrive. Together, we can build a Jersey City that works for everyone, not just a select few.”
Watterman has already announced her full at large slate of Rev. Tami Weaver-Henry, Dave Carment, and Kenny Reyes, as well as former Board of Education Trustee Alexander Hamilton as her council candidate in Ward E and Vernon Richardson in Ward F.
