Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a Democratic candidate for governor, is calling on Gov. Phil Murphy (D) to have the New Jersey State Pension Fund divest from Tesla, citing owner Elon Musk’s decisions for President Donald Trump (R) administration.

“I couldn’t believe that this step hasn’t been taken yet as the New Jersey Common Pension Fund D held approximately 1,055,133 shares of Tesla Inc. (TSLA), valued at around $426 million at the end of the year,” Fulop wrote on X this morning as part of an appeal to sign an Action Network petition.
“This position represented about 1.72% of the fund’s total portfolio and they still own a significant position into this year. As Elon Musk threatens Medicaid, Social Security, school funding worth Billions to our residents. There is zero reason to hold a direct position in Tesla.”
Murphy’s office declined to comment.
Musk, who runs Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has come under fire from Democrats across the country since taking up his new post and New Jersey is no exception.
Last week, 32nd Legislative District candidates Katie Brennan and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla called on New Jersey to end the “Tesla loophole” for direct-to-consumer sales, as HCV first reported.
Fulop is running in a six-person Democratic field to succeed Murphy, who is term limited from seeking a third term.
The other candidates are U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) and Mikie Sherrill (D-11), as well as Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, former state Senate President Steve Sweeney, and New Jersey Education Association President Sean Spiller.

As we know Democrats are now the party of hate and retribution.
Tesla and Elon Musk were once the darlings of the Democrats have now put them on their enemies list since they are no longer able to use them to get ahead politically.
The Democratic Party lost the last elections because their only message is to HATE President Donald J.
Trump.
Trump is really easy to hate. Not disliking him says more about you than it does his opposition.
The Nation was asked to choose a future direction and a leader rejected the failing Democratic Party rule.
I guess that’s why his approval is underwater less than 100 days into his term.
Well said, comrade. Go collect your rubles from Puppetmaster Vlad.
Hate and retribution? You must be referring to Fulop and Murphy…..
TSLA- Will be a 2,500 stock in 5 years. Way to go corn tooth. SMH
