“In Councilwoman Ridley, we see a true champion of working people,” ATU Local 823 President Elijah Spates Jr. said in a statement.

“She understands the critical role public transportation plays in the lives of Jersey City residents and has always been a strong ally in our fight for better service, safety, and fairness. We proudly support her re-election.”

ATU Local 823 represents hundreds of frontline transit workers and has been a staunch advocate for worker protections, transit accessibility, and fair wages.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of ATU Local 823. Our transit workers keep Jersey City moving and they deserve leaders who fight for safe working conditions, reliable infrastructure, and equitable access to transportation,” Ridley added.

“I look forward to continuing to partner with ATU and standing up for the hardworking men and women who serve our city every day.”

Ridley is in a six-person non-partisan November 4th contest where she is seeking to retain her seat against five challengers.

Brandi Warren is running with former Gov.  Jim McGreevey, Pam Johnson is part of Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea’s (D-2) ticket, Dave Carment is with Council President Joyce Watterman, Tracy Sims is part of Mussab Ali’s slate, and Lamont Wade is running independently.
