The New Jersey Working Families Party is endorsing Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato (D-31) for re-election and Katie Brennan, a candidate for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District, ahead of a hotly contested June 10th primary in Hudson County.

“We’re proud to support a strong slate of candidates who will drive real change in Trenton by putting the needs of working families first,” NJWFP State Director Antoinette Miles said in a statement.
“Now that we’ve finally consigned the corrupt county line system to the dustbin of history, we’re fully committed to electing candidates committed to fighting for working people.”
The progressive group endorsed 13 candidates in total, noting that they are paying “special attention to the 28th Legislative District, where they are backing Chigozie Onyema, and LD-32 – a six-person race where Brennan is running with Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.
“It’s not lost on me that I wouldn’t be able to run a real, competitive campaign if it weren’t for Working Families leading the charge to end the county line and bring fair ballots to New Jersey,” Brennan added.
“This is an organization that’s never been afraid to speak truth to power, and I’m proud to stand with them in the fight for affordable housing, better transit, and an economy that actually works for working people.”
That contest is one of the most watched in the state, with the Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO) supporting Jennie Pu and Crystal Fonseca, while Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop is backing Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez and Jersey City Ward D Councilman Yousef Saleh as part of his bid for governor.
In McCann Stamato’s case, she’s also a part of Fulop’s “Democrat for Change” ticket alongside Bayonne 2nd Ward Councilwoman Jackie Weimmer.
In that district, the HCDO is supporting Assemblyman Will Sampson, who ran with McCann Stamato in 2023, and Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker (D-3).
“I am truly honored to receive the endorsement of the Working Families Party. Their support reflects our shared commitment to advancing policies that put working families first,” McCann Stamato declared.
“From advocating for affordable housing and fair wages to ensuring access to quality education, we will continue to fight for an equitable future for all in LD31. Together, we will work to create a New Jersey that works for everyone, not just the wealthy.”
