Carla Uquillas, 32, of North Bergen, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and being an unlicensed driver, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera.

This morning at approximately at approximately 1:08 a.m., Hoboken police officers responded to the area of 316 Sinatra Drive for a motor vehicle crash with an unconscious woman inside the striking vehicle.

Upon arrival, Police Officers Harold Milne and Harry Montalvo located a 2009 Toyota Camry parked perpendicular across Sinatra Drive after the vehicle had crashed into a parked car. The engine was running and they found an unresponsive woman bent over inside the locked vehicle.

Therefore, a device was used to break the car’s rear window. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps then provided medical care and the driver, Uquillas, regained consciousness.

During Milne’s on-scene investigation, he developed probable cause to believe that the driver was under the influence and placed her under arrest.

The Hoboken VAC, along with with Police Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons, transported Uquillas to the Jersey City Medical Center. Around this time, Police Officer Christopher Barral secured a telephonic search warrant for blood.

After being charged and processed, Uquillas was released to a responsible party.
