U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-9) has tested positive for COVID-19, indicating that being fully vaccinated and getting a booster shot led to mild symptoms, urging others to do the same: “Omicron spreads like wildfire and is no joke.”

“Today I tested positive for COVID. I am fully vaccinated and boostered. Blessedly my symptoms are mild. I am working from home and will closely monitor my health. Omicron spreads like wildfire and is no joke,” he said in a statement this afternoon.

“If you haven’t yet get off your butt and get vaccinated and get boostered: these shots are the only reason my case is luckily mild. Don’t worry about me: get your shots!”

Pascrell joins the growing list of New Jersey elected officials to test positive for the coronavirus in recent weeks, which includes U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

Last week, Pascrell announced he would be seeking re-election for his 14th term in the House.
