In a light of the fact that a new super PAC has raised $3.2 million and will likely support Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop in his pursuit of the governor’s seat in 2017, Donald Scarinci says Fulop will have the money and political support to prevail in the race.

In a Facebook post from Wednesday, Scarinci, a managing partner of the high-powered law firm Scarinci Hollenbeck and also the West New York town attorney, all but declaring the Democratic primary over before it starts in light of the Coalition for Progress Super PAC raising $3.2 million (h/t PolitickerNJ).
Scarinci, an unabashed supporter of Fulop for governor since day 1, who opened a Democratic super PAC of his own around this time last year, inevitably faced some critics in light of his bold remarks.
Of course, that didn’t come close to changing his stance on the matter at hand:
While there are no declared candidates for governor, Fulop, state Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) and former U.S ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy are expected to slug it out in the Democratic primary.
Other rumored Democratic candidates include state Senator Ray Lesniak (D-20) and Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-19).
There has only been one instance where Fulop said he would consider succeeding Gov. Chris Christie (per NJTV), a Republican currently making a presidential run, and has otherwise played this one close to the vest.
At a press conference at the Liberty House Restaurant on Thursday, state Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37) said there was a “66 2/3” percent chance either Sweeney or Fulop would be the next governor of New Jersey (without mentioning their names).
Fulop and Sweeney joined forces to fight against a proposed plan by the Christie administration to develop Liberty Stat Park.
When Hudson County View asked Fulop about Weinberg’s remarks, he said with a smile that he was under the impression she was talking about Assemblyman Raj Mukherji (D-33) and state Senator Sandra Cunningham (D-31).
Scarinci could not immediately be reached on his cell phone, but he is currently on vacation overseas.
