Report: West New York, Union City among top 30 poorest towns in the state

The North Hudson municipalities of West New York and Union City are among the top 30 poorest areas in the state, according to a report by NJ Advance Media.

The report ranks West New York as New Jersey’s 29th poorest municipality in the state, based on a median income of $50,334 and 21.9 percent of the population living below the poverty rate.

Meanwhile, Union City comes in at number 15, with a median income of $42,483 and 24.3 percent of the population living below the poverty rate.

The list cites median household income date from the U.S. Census Bureau and the rankings only include municipalities with a population over 10,000 people.

Fairview cracked the list at number 35, while Camden topped the list at number 1.
