U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez (D-8) announced $22,745,578 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Capital Fund Program being allocated to seven different Hudson County housing authorities.

“I am thrilled to see these much-needed funds awarded to the Housing Authorities in New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District,” Menendez said in a statement.
“This investment will enable us to address the critical needs within our public housing developments, ensuring that our constituents have access to safe, comfortable, and sustainable living environments.”
The total grant amount for the 8th District is $49,995,966; which includes $22,758,601 for the Newark Housing Authority and $4,491,787 for the Elizabeth Housing Authority.
Overall, the HUD Capital Fund Program awarded $3.17 billion in Public Housing Repair funding to 2,756 public housing authorities (PHAs) in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
