Prosecutor: Union City woman, 48, badly injured in latest Jersey City hit-and-run

A 48-year-old Union City woman was badly injured in the latest Jersey City hit-and-run on Friday evening, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Woodlawn Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers located a victim, later identified as a 48-year-old Union City woman, with an injury to a lower extremity. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation was turned over to the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit on Saturday, February 4th after being notified of the severity of the victim’s injuries. She remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.

This is the third Jersey City hit-and-run in the past eight days, with one incident occurring on John F. Kennedy Boulevard on January 26th and then another on Communipaw Avenue on Wednesday.
