A 35-year-old Union City man has been charged with sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy who frequented a home the defendant lives in, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Jose Romero, 35, of Union City, is charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Suarez said in a statement.
He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a Detention Motion, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 4th.
Suarez credited the HCPO Special Victims Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the investigation and arrest.
