Prosecutor: Lindenwold woman that went missing in Jersey City found dead in Bayonne

The Lindenwold woman that was last seen in Jersey City on Saturday was found in Bayonne off of Route 440 near the Jersey City border this morning, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

On Sunday, May 14th, the Jersey City Police Department received a missing person report for Norelis Mendoza, 32, of Lindenwold, who was last seen in Jersey City on Saturday, May 13th, Suarez said in a statement.

During the course of the investigation, the HCPO Homicide Unit – with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police – located the lifeless body of a female off of Route 440 near the Jersey City border on earlier today.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been tentatively identified as Mendoza. The death is considered suspicious at this time and the cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
