Prosecutor: Jersey City woman, 58, killed in hit-and-run struck by multiple vehicles

A 58-year-old Jersey City woman killed in a hit-and-run at the intersection of Route 440 and Danforth Avenue was struck by multiple vehicles, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. yesterday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Route 440 and Danforth Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

Upon arrival, responding officers located the lifeless body of a woman – later identified as Billiah Mogusu, 58, of Jersey City – near the intersection. She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

During the preliminary investigation, it was determined the victim had been struck by multiple vehicles, many of which remained at the scene. The initial striking vehicle is not believed to have remained at the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating this matter with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
